On Armed Forces Day we give thanks to all service personnel and veterans in the UK and around the world for their dedication, and for the risks they take and sacrifices they make to protect our nation.
To celebrate we’ve been hearing from veterans to learn more about their experiences and how they have put their valuable military skills to use in civilian life, as well as ways in which they are helping their communities through the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
I have also launched my 2020 Interim Progress Report, which assesses progress made by the Scottish Government against the 63 recommendations it has accepted to improve services and support for the veterans community. The aim of this is to help the government maintain its focus on veterans and the issues that affect their lives, particularly as it shapes its COVID-19 recovery plans.
